Acoustic band in Weert playing Top2000 covers

In Weert we played in a music café, just over the provincial border: a room with an audience that had come especially to sit and listen.

The one place where everyone comes for the band

Side A · the first set

Weert lies just over the border from Brabant and is one of the few places where we play to a room that has come especially to sit and listen. No wedding, no reception, no background to a barbecue: an audience that has found a seat and is looking at the stage.

That changes the volume less than you might think. Here too acoustic remains the starting point: soft enough for the three voices to stay above the instruments and for you to hear where a song comes from. People who listen want to make out the words.

Later in the evening

An audience that comes to listen ends up singing along

Side B · once the room joins in

In the second set the room is no longer an audience but a company. The first lines get sung along to, someone asks for a song, and at the back people stop sitting down. More body can come in then.

Even then, louder is not automatically better. At the back of a bar there is always a group standing at the tap who mainly want to talk, and they belong there just as much. The volume follows the room, not the hour.

A room that starts in silence and ends singing, with the same three instruments.

Frequently asked questions · Weert

Questions from programmers in Weert

Can’t find your question? Call or WhatsApp Theo on +31 6 55 33 58 54.

Do you play outside North Brabant?

Weert is our standing exception: it lies just over the provincial border but comfortably within our half hour’s drive from Eindhoven. If your venue is just outside that, do ask.

How many sets do you play in an evening?

We play several sets with breaks in between. How many and how long we agree with the evening and with what the bar is used to.

Do you bring your own sound?

Yes, two modest speakers and one power point are enough. If there is a PA with someone behind it, we are just as happy to plug into that.

What kind of audience do you draw?

Mixed, and that is the nice part. The repertoire comes from the tapes two generations know: the people who recorded them and the people who listened along from the back seat.
