Set-up

15 minutes, and just as quick to clear

For hosts

Table music that does not drown the table

Side A · during dinner

A tape had two sides, and that was not a limitation but a structure. Side A for the journey, side B for later. A dinner dance works exactly the same way.

At the table people want to hear each other. So we play softly enough to keep talking, and softly enough that whoever prefers to listen can do so without moving their chair. Three voices and three acoustic instruments, at the pace of the moment.

After dessert

Same band, different gear

Side B · the dance floor

As soon as the plates are cleared and the chairs move, the dynamic changes. Nothing needs resetting and no gap falls: the same three musicians play on, with more tempo and more body.

Even then the room sets the measure. If a group keeps talking at the bar, we do not push on until they can no longer hear each other. Louder where it can be, softer where it must be.

The very moment an evening tends to sag is the moment ours gets going.

Frequently asked questions · dinner dances

From the starter to the dance floor

Can’t find your question? Call or WhatsApp Theo on +31 6 55 33 58 54.

Do you play during the meal?

Yes, that is side A: table music at conversation level. The staff can move around, the guests can hear each other, and anyone who would rather listen than talk can do so just as well.

When does the volume go up?

When the room asks for it, not when the clock says so. Usually that is after dessert, once the tables move aside. If part of the company keeps talking at the bar, we do not push on until they can no longer hear each other.

Do you need to reset between the dinner and the dancing?

No. The same three musicians, the same set-up, the same repertoire, just a different gear. So there is no gap in the evening for the room to empty out.

Do you need a stage?

No, a corner of the room will do: 1.5 × 2.5 metres. Keep the space you have free for the dance floor instead; we need very little.
